OSU Nuclear Power Plant Operations Course (NUCLERN 5735)

In the summer of 2013, six students participated in this nuclear power plant operations course, the first OSU course to make extensive use of our digital, full-scale nuclear power plant simulator. The students used Westinghouse training materials to study nuclear power plant systems, then put their new knowledge to use operating the simulator. The class studied design basis accidents and learned how to respond to a Steam Generator Tube Rupture, a Loss of Coolant Accident, and a Steam Line Break. The course was offered again in 2014 and 2015, and is now listed in the MAE Course Handbook as NUCLERN 5735.
