This project is concerned with the verification and validation of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Collision Risk Model (CRM) for the Instrument Landing System (ILS) used to design landing approaches to airports and with ensuring that a certain level of safety assurance has been met. In particular, this project will aim to develop a safety verification and validation plan of the CRM with the concurrence of and input from the ICAO Instrument Flight Procedures Panel (IFPP) CRM Working Group. Some of the work is expected to be applicable to similar required processes needed for the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Safety Assessment Toolset, which performs many similar functions.
